Small Miracles...

So.. recently my son has gotten a little rough. A couple of weeks ago he was running around the house and got a screw stuck in his foot. I offered to pull it out for him, but he wouldn't let me. So, I took him to Urgent Care to have it dealt with. They gave him a shot in the foot, which didn't work very well. He said that it still hurt. After making us sit there for almost 2 hours just waiting to be called back... and another 25 minutes for the shot to take effect, the doctor came back in to check if it was numb yet. My son said that it wasn't really, but it had less feeling than before. The doctor promptly pulled the screw out of his foot, exactly as I would have, and my son squeeked and it was over. The nurse then brought him a bucket of warm water to soak in.

This whole little process got a bill sent to me of $213.13. Now, I'm not the richest person in the world, so I freaked when I saw this. A couple of weeks after the screw incident, my darling son decided to ride his bike to school without telling anyone.

On his way to school he was crossing a street and thought that the car that was stopped at a corner saw him. Well, it didn't. He got hit by a car. Luckily he wasn't really hurt. His arm was scraped up and his bike frame was bent.

Two days ago I checked my mail and there was a letter from State Farm Insurance. The letter requested that Dari call them (they didn't have my name apparently), so I called them. They wanted to know if he was hurt or if his bike was broken. I told them that his arm had been scraped up and that he was mildly traumatized by the experience, but nothing too bad. They offered him $350, and to pay for the damage to the bike.

So now we have the funds to pay off that darn Urgent Care bill from the screw in his foot. We'll also be able to get him a new bike.

Also on that same day I got that letter I was fretting over some past due bills that needed taken care of, and I got a refund check in the mail from child support that I over paid last month or something. That took care of that bill too.

So thank the ethereal spirits or whatevers out there this week!
